Foundation
Founded in Summer 2024, Water, Life, Food (WLF) Gardens was formed with the intent to address sustainable development goals related to food security while providing organized design opportunities to engineering students, whose budding technical skills can be applied to make a real impact on the world.
Our Vision
We one day hope to establish WLF Gardens as a non-profit organization, where our hydroponic systems will be designed and provided for use in soup kitchens, food banks, schools, community centers, local restaurants, and more.
But for now, we focus on doing our best as an organization of dedicated individuals, working together to create, innovate, and drive change in our community.
Pacific Water Research Centre Partnership
WLF Gardens is currently partnered with the Pacific Water Research Centre (PWRC). We have permission to use their lab space under THE supervision of Dr. Zafar Adeel, Executive Director of PWRC and Director Pro Tem of the SFU School of Sustainable Energy Engineering.
Our Values
There are three pillars of sustainability: environment, economics, and society. To create a sustainable impact, we must make decisions with these in mind.
We aim to uplift the SFU community with our shared vision and eventually give back to local organizations, building engineering solutions for our communities.
